Adventures in Nashareem
The powerful and mystical diongu were considered sacred beasts by the old shamanistic religions of the Viridian Basin. They were considered beasts of change, and that when diongu left their homes to journey in the wider world was a sign of social upheaval and the coming of war.
Many of the diongu nests have been wiped out in the recent demon wars, and they grow increasingly hard to find. Depradations by poachers have endangered the remaining nests, as hunters seek the young as pets for the opulent merchants and lords of Nashareem. Their reputation as spirit guides have led to them being considered lucky pets by many in the upper eschelons of Nashareem, but the beasts have proved difficult to tame and breed in captivity.
