Kino Heruda

Bio:

I am Kino Heruda, Kenku of the Tree Shepherd clan. My family has been allied with the Jade Empire for more than 12 generations. Our family legend tells that the Jade Emperor, a sorcerer, granted our family the ability to speak the common tongue and other languages once learned. The reason for this gift is lost in time. For this reason, the tree Shepherd clan is held in jealousy and mild contempt by the other Kenku. For this reason, we of the tree Shepherd clan will rarely, if ever, speaking words in the presence of other Kenku.

I, Heruda, once pledged my loyalty to the supreme ruler of the Jade Court, but during the War of the Wraith Lords, I was tempted from my duties by one I thought a friend, and while I looked away the enemy struck. For my failure, I was exiled from the Jade Empire, and may never return to the land of my birth on pain of horrible death. The enticement of a honey tongued Imperial agent in the city of Nashareem to appeal my exile drained away the meager wealth high had taken with me, and I soon found his words were but a device lure me into the hands of my enemies in the Jade court.
While I was in the custody of the Jade Emperor, I was tortured and beaten in their clutches. I befriended a barbarian named Shaksa and together we developed a plan to affect our escape. I had escaped, only to find myself framed for murder, forced to hide on the frontier to avoid my enemies.
We fled to the jungle where I was able to use my knowledge of this refuge to hopeless hide and invade our pursuers. Shaksa, in turn, taught me to more effectively use the weapons I had to defend myself. We were constantly on the move and one day stumbled upon a wounded soldier hiding in the jungle. He told us his name was Zorok. We took him with us intended to his wounds. We checked in with us until he was able to fend for himself. He confessed to during our time together, that he had in fact deserted from the Army after he had been wounded.
I am one of four clutch mates, raised in the woods and mountains living off the land by my parents choice and of necessity due to the remoteness of the area. I had a safe and happy childhood being taught by my parents the ways of the woods and the trees. Because we were different we were shunned by the people of the nearby village who thought us thieves and con men based on the prejudices of the times. We only went to town to sell our crafts to obtain money to buy those things we were not able to make for ourselves living in the forest. When my three brothers and I reach maturity at the age of 12, we left home in search of our individual fortunes.
The war had ended a little over two years, one of my clutch brothers had gone missing. It turned out he had been kidnapped and was being held for ransom. I contacted Shaksa to me trap the kidnappers and rescue my clutch brother. As we are searching for the kidnappers we came across Zorok who told us that a family artifact had also been taken. He agreed to join our search to help us rescue my brother and we in turn with help him to retrieve this fairly heirloom and blacksmiths hammer which had been in his family for more than three generations.
After two weeks of searching and they small but intense battle the kidnappers, we save my clutch brother and retrieved the heirloom. Unfortunately, I was grievously wounded in the fracas needed to find healing save my arm.
Once my brother was returned home, I set my sights on the city of Nashareem where I planned to make my fortune.
I have come here to the viridian jungle because in the turmoil of the war-ravaged land I can disappear, and work towards my revenge against both empires. The Fang Breakers will give me a chance to gain the favor in the local power struggle, and gain allies to protect me from my enemies. They can also give me the chance to seek revenge on the corrupt bureaucrats who took away my last hope of returning to my homeland.
